Evija Kreismane has been working as head of the Legal Department of the Latvian Data State Inspectorate since 2020. She  is a qualified lawyer, with master’s degree in law (Latvian University).

Previously, Evija Kreismane worked for 13 years in the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Latvia as the legal advisor in Public Law Department and Constitutional Law Department, before that as the judge’s assistant in Administrative Regional Court .

Evija Kreismane worked as an expert of the Data Protection and information exchange working party in 2015 in preparation of the General Data Protection Regulation. Later working in Ministry of Justice Evija Kreismane prepared national legislation implementing Police directive and actively participated in the development of national regulations for the application of the General Data Protection Regulation.

She is in charge of the providing an opinion on draft laws and regulations and development planning documents prepared by other institutions as well as representation of Data State Inspectorate before courts and handling complaints, examining administrative violation matters and imposing administrative sanctions for violations.
